CHICAGO – State Rep. Kam Buckner, D-Chicago, released the following statement following Gov. JB Pritzker’s State of the State address:
“This past year has been a successful step in the right direction to getting the state back on sound financial footing, while also passing vital reforms to ensure that our public schools are receiving the funding they need to provide our state’s children with the high-quality education that they deserve. I am proud of our achievement of passing a bipartisan, balanced budget that provides $350 million in new funding for public schools.”
“However, the State of the State address offers a unique opportunity to consider how much further we need to go, and what we need to do to continue to build a stronger Illinois. Though we have taken significant steps forward in paying off the backlog of bills, there is more work to be done. I am confident that through a shared commitment to the state, we and will continue to fight for the necessary funding for our schools, senior care and other lifesaving services.”
“We must continue working to build a stronger Illinois that invests in our families and our future. I am ready to get to work.”
