MOLINE, Ill. – State Rep. Mike Halpin, D-Rock Island, recently donated blood in recognition of National Blood Donor Month and to show his support for blood banks and other critical health care services in his community.
“Health service centers like the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center provide enormous aid to doctors, patients and the entire Illinois medical system,” Halpin said. “Providing accessible health care for our entire community is a priority for me. While I’ll continue to pursue legislative solutions to challenges facing Illinois, it’s also important to get involved directly in our community, and I encourage more people do the same.”
Halpin donates blood annually at the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center to combat the national blood shortage problem that is especially prevalent during the winter months. Millions of Americans need blood every year, often in emergency situations. To find out more on how you can donate, please visit redcrossblood.org.
