SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Diane Pappas, D-Itasca, released the following statement in response to Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s State of the State address on Wednesday:

“This year is an opportunity to create great changes for our community and our state; to crack down on skyrocketing medical costs from big insurance and pharmaceutical companies, to grow practical vocational education programs and to lower the property tax burden that is hurting hard-working homeowners. It’s time for those changes to become a reality.

“The foundation of these changes will be our bipartisan, balanced budget that meets our pension and school funding obligations, funds critical social programs to support our most vulnerable citizens, and pays back millions in old bills.

“My focus will always be representing the needs and priorities of our community, and, while there is still more work to be done, I remain committed to building a stronger Illinois and a better future for the next generation.”
