SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Following Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s annual State of the State address, state Representative Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, released the below statement to highlight her plans to build a stronger Illinois by fighting for property tax relief, affordable health care and measures to support business owners and grow the economy.

“Today the governor outlined his plans to continue working off the progress Illinois has made in the past year. As a part of my continued commitment to build a stronger Illinois and lift up middle-class families, I proudly supported a Fair Tax plan to relieve the unfair tax burden on local families. I also passed a bipartisan, balanced budget to pay down the enormous backlog of unpaid bills racked up by the previous administration, while ensuring our limited resources are invested in important programs like schools, public safety, senior care and mental health.

“Throughout my time as state Representative, I have continually met with community leaders across my district, knocked on doors in local neighborhoods and hosted legislative advisory committees to hear the thoughts and concerns of community residents. I often hear concerns about skyrocketing property taxes and the crushing tax burden on working and middle-class families. To build a stronger Illinois for our families, my top priorities continue to be real property tax relief, full, fair funding for our schools, creating jobs and a high-wage economy, and affordable health care.

“My priorities are driven by the concerns of the families I represent, and I will continue fighting to be a strong voice for our community in the state Capitol.”
