SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Theresa Mah, D-Chicago, issued the following statement Wednesday in response to Gov. Pritzker’s State of the State address:
“I am encouraged by the progress we have made over the past year to provide tax relief to struggling families, make health care more affordable and expand access to education and skills training for high-wage, 21st century jobs. I also acknowledge that much work remains before our goal of a thriving, inclusive middle class is truly met.
“The families in my communities are counting on us to build a stronger and more stable future for the state of Illinois. Critical to doing so is continuing to pass bipartisan, balanced budgets that fund the services residents depend on at every stage of life, from our schools to senior care.
“This legislative session will also focus on restoring people’s trust in government, which for some has been shattered by a few bad actors. By cracking down on corruption, we reaffirm that those with influence over our political system must be held to a high standard. All of us must work together in good faith to continue building a stronger Illinois that puts middle-class families first.”
Mah is serving her second term representing the 2nd District, which includes the Chicago neighborhoods of McKinley Park, Pilsen, Chinatown, Bridgeport, Brighton Park and Back of the Yards. For more information, please contact Mah’s district office at 872-281-5775
