ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – Dedicated to representing all facets of his district, state Rep. Mark Walker, D-Arlington Heights, recently held a question and answer session with local seniors at the Arlington Heights Senior Center.
“During the disastrous budget standoff, too many of our critical social services were reduced or eliminated altogether,” Walker said. “Unfortunately, many seniors were impacted as well. Every group in our community needs to be involved as we turn the page in Illinois.”
Welcomed by a lively group at the senior center, Walker gave a short presentation on noteworthy pieces of legislation passed this spring session while taking questions from attendees. Walker also discussed his work to build a stronger Illinois by expanding business growth and lowering taxes on job creators in the state.
“I always appreciate feedback from my constituents on how my work in Springfield affects them,” Walker said. “Issues like affordable and accessible health care, lowering property taxes and fixing our broken tax system are top-tier issues in my district. By hosting events like these question and answer sessions and community coffee events, my office is better able to serve our district’s needs. I was very glad to hear from some of our area seniors and will certainly take their thoughts and concerns with me back to Springfield.”
