WHEELING, Ill. –State Rep. Daniel Didech, D-Buffalo Grove, will be hosting a Property Tax Appeal Seminar for Wheeling Township homeowners with Cook Commissioner Scott Britton and County Assessor Fritz Kaegi’s Office on Wednesday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Community Recreation Center, located at 100 Community Boulevard in Wheeling.
“One of the top concerns I hear from families in Wheeling as I walk door-to-door is the issue of rising property taxes,” Didech said. “I want to bring assistance directly to them by helping them learn about the appeal process.”
This event is free and open to the public. Officials from the Cook County Assessor’s Office will be on hand to help residents understand the process of appealing the assessed value of their homes. Homeowners can learn about the basics of property assessments, how to appeal the assessment and what exemptions are available. Homeowners are encouraged to bring their most recent assessments and a valid state ID or driver’s license to receive help.
“In order to build a stronger Illinois for the middle class, we must do everything we can to lower the property tax burden on local families. That’s why I led the charge on legislation to create a relief fund to provide yearly rebates to local homeowners who qualify for a general homestead exemption,” Didech added. “I encourage families to attend this event and learn more about my work to provide real property tax for families and seniors in our community.”
Homeowners can print the necessary appeal documents at tinyurl.com/yxe8xr44 (case-sensitive) and fill out as much as they can before the event. For more information, or to RSVP, please contact Rep. Didech’s office at Info@RepDidech.com.
