BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. – To promote mental health awareness in the community as part of May’s Mental Health Month, the office of state Rep. Daniel Didech, D-Buffalo Grove, will be participating in the Vernon Township Mental Health Fair being held in Buffalo Grove on Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to noon.
“Mental health is as important as physical health, but all too often it isn’t a priority when lawmakers talk about health care,” said Didech. “I want to help raise awareness for mental health and help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health care that may prevent people from taking advantage of resources available to them.”
The Vernon Township Mental Health Fair is hosted by Vernon Township and the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) Lake County, and will be held in the Vernon Township Community Service Building, located at 2900 N. Main St. in Buffalo Grove. The fair will feature several community organizations that provide mental health care services, or help individuals and families struggling with mental health issues. Didech hopes the fair will help spread information about what resources are available.
“There are several amazing local groups represented at the fair, all of which perform a vital role in our community,” Didech continued. “This event is an excellent opportunity to learn what is out there for people who are struggling, and what the community can do to make mental health a priority.”
