CHICAGO – To connect residents with free health screenings and information, state Rep. Theresa Mah, D-Chicago, is hosting a community health fair on Saturday, March 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Leonard M. Louie Fieldhouse, located at 1700 S. Wentworth Ave.

“Health care access is a concern for many families, as doctors’ visits can be expensive and sometimes take many weeks to schedule,” said Mah. “I hope community members will take advantage of the free services provided at our health fair to identify potential risks to their health and learn about how to improve their overall wellness.”

Mah’s health fair will offer various screenings, including vision and dental, to help residents get a better picture of their overall health. Mah hosts this event annually to help local residents become more involved in their own well-being and gain knowledge about how to life a healthier lifestyle and avoid health issues. The free event is open to the public and includes manicures and haircuts in addition to BMI, glucose, cholesterol, vision and dental services.

“Promoting health equity contributes to a thriving community,” said Mah. “I hope this event helps people catch any health problems in the earlier stages so they can be addressed and managed.”

Mah is serving her second term representing the 2nd District, which includes the Chicago neighborhoods of Pilsen, Chinatown, Bridgeport, McKinley Park, Brighton Park and Back of the Yards.
