Stuart Sponsors Shred Day with Crowe and Bristow

GRANITE CITY, Ill. – State Rep. Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, will be hosting a free document shredding event on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the parking lot of Granite City High School, located at 3148 Fehling Rd. Stuart is hosting this event in partnership with state Rep. Monica Bristow, D-Alton, and state Sen. Rachelle Crowe, D–Glen Carbon.

“I know that life gets busy and people let their old documents pile up because they don’t have access to a way to dispose of their confidential documents safely and securely,” said Stuart. “This event allows residents to know that their documents will be discarded securely and at no cost.”

Stuart’s Shred Day is free and open to the public. There is a maximum that the shred truck can hold, so residents are encouraged to show up early since they will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis. The shredded items will be locked away on the truck to ensure confidentiality of personal documents. After the event, the truck will transfer the shredded items to an establishment where the documents will be destroyed under video surveillance. Shred Day is only open to residential shredding, and residents are advised to limit the documents to two boxes.

“This is a great chance for residents to shred old documents free of charge while shielding your personal information from being stolen,” continued Stuart. “I am glad to offer this service to the community and give peace of mind to residents that their documents will be properly destroyed.”
