Carroll Touts Illinois EpiPen Law at FARE Summit

WASHINGTON – Helping to make health care more accessible and affordable, state Rep. Jonathan Carroll, D-Northbrook, attended the Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) Summit to highlight his new laws that modernize food labeling to include sesame and insurance coverage for EpiPens.

“As a father of a daughter with a severe food allergy, I want to help families across the nation access the health care coverage they deserve,” Carroll said. “Illinois has proven to be a national leader in expanding health care to those in need. Now it is time for other states, and the nation, to join us. No family should be left alone to fend for themselves when it comes to their health care.”

Carroll attended the FARE Summit in Washington DC to speak about legislation he passed in Illinois this year. House Bill 3435 requires Illinois insurance companies to cover the costs of EpiPens for people aged 18 and younger. Carroll also passed House Bill 2123 demanding food labeling include any and all sesame ingredients.

Included in his fight to make health care more affordable in Illinois, Carroll is supporting Senate Bill 667, a new proposal seeking to cap patients’ insulin payments at $100 a month.
