CHICAGO – State Rep. Camille Y. Lilly, D-Chicago, recently attended the Women’s Health Summit hosted by Cook County Commissioner Dennis Deer, D-Chicago, where Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, D-Chicago, was honored for her work promoting health care access.
“In her time as county board president, Toni Preckwinkle has put securing affordable, quality health care access at the forefront of her agenda to build a stronger Cook County,” Lilly said. “I was proud to help Commissioner Dennis Deer honor her as a champion of health care because if you don’t have your health, you don’t have much else.”
As part of her own work to build a stronger Illinois by lowering health care costs and ensure affordable health care access for all, Lilly backed House Bill 471 to give the Illinois Department of Insurance (DOI) the power to reject discriminatory, unfair or unreasonable according to Affordable Care Act guidelines. Lilly also sponsored House Bill 156, the Prescription Drug Pricing Transparency Act, to require health insurance companies to disclose how much of an insured person’s premium is attributable to prescription drug costs and annual increases or decreases in the price of prescription drugs offered.
