Mussman Invites Residents to Attend Environmental Awareness Discussion Panel

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – As part of her commitment to promoting a healthy environment, state Rep. Michelle Mussman, D-Schaumburg, has invited members of the community to attend a panel discussion on ways to combat the effects of fight climate change and other environmental issues through recycling and conservation.

“It’s important that the members of our community have access to credible information when it comes to environmental concerns,” Mussman said. “The experts on the discussion panel are dedicated to protecting the planet and educating communities on how to reduce their environmental impact. By focusing a panel on this topic, our hope is that people will learn about the steps they can take to help fight climate change and preserve the earth for future generations.”

The Environmental Awareness Discussion Panel will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Elk Grove Village Public Library, located at 1001 Wellington Ave. in Elk Grove Village. Mussman will be joined by state Sen. Laura Murphy, Jennifer Walling from the Illinois Environmental Council (IEC), Peter Gorr from the Sierra Club, and representatives from the Shedd Aquarium and Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC). Panelists will discuss ways to protect the environment and answer questions from the audience. The event is free and open to the public.

“It is more important than ever for us to work together to address the devastating effects of climate change and find real ways to improve how we manage the waste produced every day in America,” Mussman said. “I encourage anyone who has ever wondered, ‘Is this recyclable?’ to attend this discussion and learn about other ways to reduce one’s carbon footprint and preserve our environment.”
