ROCKFORD, Ill. – Highlighting his focus on education, state Rep. Maurice West II, D-Rockford, recently visited Cherry Valley Elementary to meet with students and teachers.

“As one of the newest schools in our area, it was interesting to see new concepts and technology being used at Cherry Valley Elementary to teach children,” West said. “It’s also exciting to meet with enthusiastic teachers and leaders who want to unlock the potential of every student they engage.”

West had the opportunity to tour Cherry Valley Elementary with Principal Carolyn Timm, RPS 205 Board Member Anthony Dixon and two fifth grade students. West is committed to working with the school district to secure state resources that can improve the learning experience for students across the community.

“Every child in our community should have the opportunity to pursue the future they want,” West said. “For that to occur, we need to do all that we can to invest in our schools and take advantage of modern teaching methods to prepare our children.”
