Pappas to Host Environmental Info-Session as First Topic of “Choose Your Issue” Series

BLOOMINGDALE, Ill. – State Rep. Diane Pappas, D-Itasca, is launching a series of informational seminars with a session focused on Environmental issues on Thursday, August 1 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Itasca Community Library, located at 500 W. Irving Park Rd.  

“The ‘Choose Your Issue’ series will consist of monthly informative events that will be hosted at locations throughout District 45 on the first Thursday of every month. Each info-session will focus on a different topic that is of concern to the District 45 community, with a goal to promote residents’ civic engagement and encourage communication with government officials at all levels,” said Pappas. “Invited speakers will provide insight into community programs and legislation related to the monthly topic, and encourage residents to engage with their neighbors and elected officials to drive public policy that improves our community.”

At Pappas’ Environmental info-session, residents will hear from organizations including the School and Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting Education (SCARCE),the Citizens Utility Board (CUB), the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County and others. Topics explored will include recent changes in the area of recycling as well as clean energy projects in our community and proposed future legislation.

“I want to thank all of the speakers who have agreed to make presentations for helping to keep citizens informed and engaged on this very important topic,” said Pappas. “I urge residents to attend this information session not just to gain knowledge, but also to find resources on how they can continue to stay engaged and tract this important topic through all the levels of government.”
