DES PLAINES, Ill. – Continuing his efforts to help local families prepare for the new school year, state Rep, Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, will be hosting a back pack drive at his district office, located at 24 S. Des Plaines River Rd, Suite 400, until the end of the month.
“Making sure every child in our community has the opportunity to receive a world-class education is a priority of mine,” said Moylan. “The first step for these children to have a successful school year is to be fully-prepared when school starts later this month.”
The backpack drive will include any school supplies local students might need this year. The items collected will be dispersed to families in need throughout the district. School districts within Moylan’s representative districts include: High School Districts 214 and 207, Des Plaines School District 62, Community Consolidated School District 59 and Park Ridge-Niles School District 64.
Moylan has been a longtime advocate for school funding while in Springfield. During the previous General Assembly, Moylan backed legislation that increased the funding for his local schools.
“There are many students in our community that could use our help before the beginning of the school year,” said Moylan. “I encourage any residents who have left over backpacks, school supplies, or anything that could help our students succeed, please feel free to drop it off at my office.”
For more information about the backpack drive, or a list of student needs, please contact Moylan’s full-time constituent office at 847-635-6821 or email StateRepMoylan@gmail.com.
