LaPointe, Saviano Discuss Efforts to Build a Stronger Illinois and Middle Class

ELMWOOD PARK, Ill. – State Rep. Lindsey LaPointe, D-Chicago, recently met with Elmwood Park Mayor Angelo “Skip” Saviano to discuss state and municipal issues.

“Being the best advocate for our community means listening to what community members and local leaders think about the major issues facing the state, and partnering with them to address the issues facing our individual communities,” said LaPointe. “I look forward to working with Mayor Saviano, our other community leaders, and all residents as I fight to rein in property taxes, stand up for our teachers and first responders, protect health care and make our voices heard.”

LaPointe met with Saviano to discuss the state’s budget and municipal needs. Property taxes are a large concern for residents, and Illinois’ new balanced budget commits an additional $375 million for local public schools, to help ease local reliance on property tax revenue.

LaPointe represents the 19th District, which covers portions of Chicago’s Big Oaks, Dunning, Gladstone Park, Jefferson Park, Portage Park, Union Ridge and West Portage Park neighborhoods, and River Grove, Elmwood Park, Norridge and Harwood Heights.
