Yednock Raises Awareness During Child Abuse Prevention Month

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – To help raise awareness of child abuse and ways to prevent it, state Rep. Lance Yednock, D-Ottawa, is sharing important resources on preventing and stopping child abuse during the month of April, which is recognized nationally as Child Abuse Prevention Month.

“It is a sad reality that child abuse happens, but prevention requires action from everyone,” said Yednock. “Child abuse can appear in many ways, but any form of abuse or neglect is completely unacceptable. Children deserve to grow up in a loving and caring home, and it’s up to our communities to help stop it and say something if they suspect neglect or abuse.”

Yednock is proud to help support the organization Prevent Child Abuse Illinois and their educational drive during the month of April, helping to raise awareness and provide resources for those who may suspect neglect or abuse. Events during the month include Wear Blue Day on April 5th and Pinwheels for Prevention.

“Everyone should strive for an end to child abuse,” said Yednock. “We have many organizations in Illinois that are working diligently in our communities to help stop abuse and provide help and support for survivors. I would encourage community members to reach out to these organizations to see how they can assist locally, and I urge anyone who suspects child abuse or neglect to call the state’s hotline.”
