GRANITE CITY, Ill. – Affirming her support for American steel and jobs, state Rep. Katie Stuart recently toured the facilities at Granite City Works owned by U.S. Steel in Granite City. Rep. Stuart was joined by state Rep. Monica Bristow and state Sen. Rachelle Crowe.
“Granite City Works is a huge part of the community in Granite City, so getting the opportunity to tour the facility gave me a deeper understanding of the important work that is done there,” Stuart said. “The daily operations at the mill are impressive, and their employees are able to quickly advance and grow within the organization.”
Granite City Works focuses on producing high quality, coated sheet steel products to customers spanning across the construction, piping and tubing, and automotive industries. Granite City Works currently employs over 1500 people across the Metro East, and offers programs to their employees for professional development and for advancement within the company. The plant has the capabilities to produce 2.8 million tons of steel each year.
