SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Rev. Dr. Walton Jones, senior pastor of the Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Rock Island delivered the invocation before the Illinois House of Representatives on Thursday as a guest of state Rep. Mike Halpin, D-Rock Island.

“In addition to his honorable service in the Army, Rev. Dr. Jones continues to provide pastoral care and encouragement to the members of his congregation,” said Halpin. “It was my privilege to welcome him to Springfield to provide the invocation and recognize his service to the country and members of our community.”

Jones is the senior pastor of the Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Rock Island. An Army veteran, he holds a doctorate in Christian Leadership from Union Bible Theological Seminary and a master’s of divinity from Christian Bible Institute and Seminary. Jones currently serves as the veteran ambassador of the Iowa Missionary and Educational Baptist State Convention and as the vice dean with the Eastern District Association for the state of Iowa.

Halpin recently welcomed him to the Capitol to provide an invocation to bless the House as lawmakers conduct the people’s business.
