SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Daniel Didech, D-Buffalo Grove, released the following statement following Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s Budget Address:
“Illinois faces many challenges after four years of reckless leadership under former Governor Bruce Rauner, which deteriorated social service agencies and left the state with billions of dollars in unpaid bills. The challenges we face in the effort to heal the damage caused by the Rauner crisis are only lessened by the efforts House Democrats took to protect lifesaving services from complete destruction.
“The former governor’s partisan games and inability to compromise decimated our state, its services and its people. Illinois desperately needs leaders who are willing to work together to lift up middle-class families and to protect funding for lifesaving services like meals on wheels for seniors, domestic violence shelters for women and child care assistance programs for working families.
“Getting our state back on track will not be easy, but we now have a governor who recognizes the challenges Illinois faces and is ready to work together to move our state forward. I look forward to working cooperatively with all of my colleagues to make real progress on these issues. The communities I represent cannot wait any longer.”
