JOLIET, Ill. – With winter in full swing, state Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, is reminding residents to prepare their cars for frigid temperatures.
“Winter months are often jammed with travel to visit family and friends,” said Manley. “I encourage residents to prepare winter survival kits in case they find themselves stranded while traveling. A little bit of preparation can help keep families safe this winter.”
Manley suggests drivers have their car checked before the holidays and stock their vehicles with survival items if their cars stall. Winter “survival items” include blankets, water, flashlights, phone chargers and jumper cables. Residents can find a full list of items on the Will County Emergency Management Agency’s website at http://www.willcountyema.org.
“Winter is a wonderful time of the year, but it is important that everyone prepares for a cold-weather related emergency,” Manley continued. “Please reduce speeds and drive defensively.”
