SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Justin Slaughter, D-Chicago, is asking residents of his district to send in ideas for legislation for the upcoming legislative session beginning later this month.
“It is important for my constituents to know that I am their voice in Springfield,” Slaughter said. “I am seeking ideas for bills to help fulfill my duty as an elected representative, and more importantly, to give members of our community the opportunity to be involved in the legislative process.”
Slaughter is encouraging constituents to share ideas that they think will be beneficial both locally and statewide. Slaughter plans to personally review each submission and will consider introducing proposals as legislation. Residents who have ideas for new laws can call 773-445-9700 or email slaughterj@ilga.gov. Ideas can also be mailed to his district office, located at 1234 W. 95th St. in Chicago, IL 60643. The deadline for submitting legislative ideas is Wednesday, Jan. 23.
“When everyone has a chance for their voice to be heard, our democracy is at its strongest,” Slaughter said. “I encourage everyone to share their ideas, no matter how big or small, so that we can make our community a better place to live and move Illinois forward together.”
