SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, issued the following statement after being sworn in as state Representative for the 62nd District for the 101st General Assembly:
“For four years our state was embattled in bitter partisan disputes that caused our deficits to grow, unpaid bills to stack up and left vulnerable citizens with no place to turn. As a moderate legislator that believes in bipartisan compromise and cooperation, I can’t begin to explain how frustrated I was with Gov. Rauner’s constant political games and tendency to move the goal posts after bipartisan deals had been made.
“As we turn a new page for the state of Illinois, I am hopeful that civility and bipartisan cooperation will make a long overdue return to Springfield. Our state and its people are hurting and we all must work together to lift our communities back up from the damage of the last four years.
“I pledge to work with every Democrat, Republican and Independent in Illinois to move our state forward. The people of Illinois rejected the partisan rancor and dysfunction of the past and are looking for leaders across the partisan spectrum to work together and offer relief from high property taxes, create good paying jobs in our communities, give our schools the resources they need and to make sure that critical services for our most vulnerable residents are never interrupted again.
“While the last four years were immensely challenging, I have more faith now than ever before that we can put our state on stronger fiscal ground and create an Illinois that works for all of our state’s residents.”
