JOLIET, Ill. – State Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, joined community members, advocates, families, service providers, and local leaders at Joliet’s second annual Disability Pride Fest on Saturday, Sept. 26, where she delivered remarks recognizing the contributions, dignity, and leadership of people with disabilities.

Held at the Joliet Junior College, the festival brought together residents for music, games, food, local vendors, disability-resource organizations, voter-registration opportunities, and conversations with public officials. Organizers from the United Cerebral Palsy Center for Disability Services, the Disability Resource Center, and the Joliet Committee on Citizens with Disabilities connected attendees with support and services in the community.

“Disability pride is about recognizing the full humanity, talents, and leadership of people with disabilities,” Rep. Manley said. “I was honored to join Joliet’s disability community in celebrating a day built on belonging, advocacy, and the simple but essential principle that every person deserves access, respect, and the opportunity to thrive.”

During her remarks, Manley highlighted the importance of listening directly to people with disabilities, caregivers, advocates, and service providers when developing public policy. As the chair and founder of the Illinois Legislative Neurodiversity Caucus (ILNC), Rep. Manley is committed to advancing practical solutions that expand equitable access to healthcare, education, public services, and community participation for all Illinois residents.

The Sept. 26 festival was held from 11 a.m. at Joliet Junior College’s Event Center Concourse, 1215 Houbolt Rd.
