JOLIET, Ill. – State Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, is spreading awareness of a “Creating Peace: Networking for Nonviolence” event Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, presented by the Non Violent Cities Project – Joliet.
The event will be held at the Joliet Township Building, 175 W. Jefferson St., Joliet, in the second floor community room from 2-4 p.m.
The focus is to bring individuals and groups together in Joliet and throughout Will County in an effort to bring a more peaceful and nonviolent place to live for everyone. Featured speakers include Joliet Township Supervisor Cesar Guerrero, and Educator and Renowned Speaker Ernest Crimm.
“I was invited to one of the Non Violent Cities Joliet meetings the night of the Alex Pretti vigil, which was nearby,” Rep. Manley said. “I was very impressed with their mission and their dedication.”
This is a free event, open to the public. Attendees will be able to meet and hear from other elected officials and local organizers.
Discussions will include issues most impacting violence in the Joliet area, including war, affordable housing, immigration, the environmental crisis, living wages, racism, human rights and access to resources, according to the event flyer.
