EVANSTON, Ill. – State Rep. Robyn Gabel, D-Evanston, issued this statement following Gov. Pritzker’s budget proposal:
“A growing cost-of-living is increasingly making achieving middle-class status out-of-reach for many working families and I’m committed to crafting a budget that pushes back against that trend. As I continue my chief budgeteer role, I’ll make sure that affordability—from rent and mortgage costs to prescription drug premiums—are front-and-center.
“In recent years, Illinois has made great strides in improving our fiscal position with smart, timely budgeting that spends taxpayer dollars wisely on essential services and pays down debt. Despite the Trump Administration overreach and funding freezes, we are going to continue that streak, while providing for the people who need it the most.”
