SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Marti Deuter, D-Elmhurst, issued the following statement after Governor Pritzker’s annual budget address on Wednesday:

“This year’s budget process is an opportunity to reaffirm Illinois’ commitment to working families by tackling the affordability crisis head on. By making smart, fiscally responsible decisions, we can invest our finite resources into the services that help people make ends meet.

“Over the coming months, I will be reviewing the state’s ledger line-by-line to ensure we are taking a forward-thinking, restrained, responsible, and compassionate approach during a time when external factors are placing more and more pressure on our state’s resources.

“I’m particularly excited to continue to discuss how we can unlock the full potential of our state by finding new ways to fund our state pensions in a way that protects taxpayers, civil servants and retirees.”
