Morris Responds After Federal Agents Fatally Shoot Two People in Minnesota

CHICAGO – State Rep. Yolonda Morris issued the following statement after two U.S. Citizens were killed by federal agents in Minnesota:

“Renee Good and Alex Pretti — two lives lost in Minnesota at the hands of federal agents using unnecessary force are a heartbreaking reminder that communities across this country remain unsafe when we have a leader in Washington who is willing to risk the lives of American citizens to prioritize his own agenda. We saw it in 2020, and now we are seeing it again, nearly six years later.

“We will stand together and not just sit back and watch this happen here in Illinois. We knew the actions of the Trump administration would only escalate, and that’s why we passed House Bill 1312: to protect families from preventable violence, strengthen civil rights during immigration enforcement, create safe zones around schools, hospitals, and courthouses, and hold law enforcement accountable so no one else has to die simply for living their lives and serving others.”
