OTTAWA, Ill. — Encouraging residents to help their neighbors in need this holiday season, state Rep. Amy “Murri” Briel, D-Ottawa, recently joined WCMY’s annual Freezin’ for a Reezin’ radiothon to help collect donations in support of Community Food Basket.

“It was wonderful to witness our community come together and support each other,” Briel said. “I’m thankful for everyone who participated, and I encourage residents who weren’t able to join us to check out the great work Community Food Basket does and consider donating. Every bit helps.”

The 17th Annual Freezin’ for a Reezin’ radiothon was held to raise food and funds for the Community Food Basket that serves LaSalle County. The event featured special guests and activities, and was a major success. Over $54,000 was raised to help hunger relief efforts, with all of the proceeds going directly to the Ottawa Community Food Basket.

Residents can learn more about Community Food Basket and view options to give at ottawafoodbasket.org.

“I’m proud of what we achieved,” Briel said. “Every effort counts toward supporting and serving each other, and it’s awesome to see everyone so enthusiastic about this.”
