SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Rick Ryan, D-Evergreen Park, final week of the fall legislative session, has played a key role in advancing major legislation aimed at cutting energy costs and strengthening public transit.
“Families deserve to live without the immense burden of unexpectedly high electric bills crushing them,” said Ryan.“Every Illinois resident deserves reliable transportation and fair utility rates.” Ryan added.“By investing in our infrastructure and reducing energy costs, we’re improving lives across the state.”
Ryan worked side by side with fellow legislators to draft and negotiate provisions that benefit Illinois’ transit systems–reducing delays and expanding routes. His leadership also helped secure lower utility rates for Ameren and ComEd customers. This measure will additionally create over a hundred thousand new jobs across Illinois.
“I didn’t just want to vote on these bills, I wanted to help advocate for them in a way that truly reflects our neighboorhoods’ needs, which means fighting for a stronger foundation for everyday life.” said Ryan “Efficient and affordable transit helps people get to work, school, and appointments without added stress, while lower energy costs put money back in their pockets, which can improve stability for working families.”
