CHICAGO, Ill — Legislation sponsored by state Rep. Lisa Davis, D-Chicago, designates Harlem Avenue from 79th Street to 111th Street as Little Palestine Way. The designation pays tribute to the many Palestinian Americans and their contributions in Chicago and beyond.
“For generations, the Palestinian-American community has heavily contributed to our culture and community,” said Davis. “Harlem Avenue is an active hub for Palestinian Americans, from cultural organizers to faith leaders to entrepreneurs. I am so proud to honor a community with such history and dedication to Chicago.”
“Chicago houses the largest hub of Palestinian-Americans in the United States in the Bridgeview area, also called Little Palestine. Residents in this community are civically engaged, work to grow their community and create a sense of belonging for fellow Palestinian-Americans. HJR 46 passed with partisan support on the House floor Thursday.
