CHICAGO – Continuing his commitment to saving taxpayers’ dollars, state Rep. Jaime Andrade, D-Chicago, is letting his community know about an expanded electric vehicle rebate program available through the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) beginning Oct. 28.
“With families in a pinch, I’m looking for every way possible to help them put more money back into their pockets,” Andrade said. “Our recent state budget commits itself to that goal, and at the same time, to the clean energy future our state needs, by fully funding the Illinois EPA’s Electric Vehicle Rebate Program and expanding it to more Illinoisans buying new or used electric vehicles. I’m encouraging my community to head to the Illinois EPA’s website, find out if you qualify and claim the benefits you deserve.”
The Andrade-backed state budget makes critical money-saving changes to the Illinois EPA’s Electric Vehicle Rebate Program to allow more Illinoisans to apply and access funds over a longer period of time. Opening Tuesday, Oct. 28 and closing Saturday, Jan. 31, the program application period doubled compared to years prior. Additionally, the rebate raises the income eligibility to 80% above the regional or county median income.
Rebates are issued based on funds available.
