PEORIA, Ill. – Residents will be able to safely dispose of old paperwork at a free community shred event hosted by state Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth, D-Peoria, this Saturday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to noon at the north parking lot of the Landmark Recreation Center, located at 3225 Dries Ln. in Peoria.
“As we begin a new season, this is a great opportunity for residents to get rid of old bills, receipts and other clutter in their home,” Gordon-Booth said. “By shredding old documents that often have personally-identifying information, residents can better protect themselves from possible theft and create some peace of mind.”
Residents are asked to limit themselves at no more than 10 boxes of documents for shredding. Paper clips, staples and other bindings should be removed. Recycling for old computer disks and hard drives will also be available.
Free and open to the public, Gordon-Booth’s event is for residential shredding only, not commercial.
