UTICA, Ill. – State Rep. Amy “Murri” Briel, D-Ottawa, joined House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch on Tuesday at her local town hall to discuss topics including rural healthcare access, rising energy costs, and the risk posed by federal cuts for an audience of over 50 residents.

“This was such a fantastic turnout and I couldn’t be more grateful for such a curious, supportive community that wants to make our neighborhoods a better place,” said Briel. “Speaker Welch and I had the opportunity to hear diverse perspectives and address multiple concerns that our residents alike share. There is so much unknown at the federal level that these folks just want someone who will be honest and fight for them. That is what I’ll continue to do, which is guided by the voices like those tonight. I have to thank Speaker Welch for his collaboration and the residents across Northern Illinois who made the time to join us yesterday evening.”

The event took place in Utica at the International Union Operators Engineers Hall. Tuesday’s town hall was the last of a summer series Briel hosted.
