Hernandez Responds to Reports of Possible Deployment of National Guard Members to Chicago

AURORA, Ill. In response to reports of the Defense Department preparing for possible deployment of National Guard members to Chicago, state Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, issued this statement:

“Instead of focusing on challenges facing Illinoisans-such as high prices caused by his trade war, Donald Trump is once again attempting to expand the power of the presidency and create chaos, this time with threats of federal troops in Chicago streets. Keeping Illinois families safe is a priority for me, but that requires trust between law enforcement and the surrounding neighborhoods. This federal incursion would do nothing but disrupt that trust.”
