BELLEVILLE, Ill. – Local libraries are in line to receive additional state resources to support the purchase of new books, technology and more following the release of new per capita library grants supported by state Rep. Jay Hoffman, D-Swansea.
“This support helps our local libraries in their mission of being accessible places of learning and discovery,” Hoffman said. “It’s critical we ensure our libraries can continue to deliver high-quality resources for residents of all ages.”
Libraries can use the funds to support community services and resources, including books, e-books,
online resources, internet access, personnel, public programming and capital expenditures. Within
Hoffman’s legislative district, the following libraries will receive grants totaling:
– $62,545.90 for Belleville Public Library,
– $47,626.28 for O’Fallon Public Library,
– $4,677.23 for Madison Public Library, and
– $2,209.55 for Venice Public Library.
Funding for these per capita grants is allocated by the General Assembly through the General Revenue Fund, and are issued by the Secretary of State’s office.
“Having strong libraries and centers of learning is critical for the wellbeing of communities,” Hoffman said. “I appreciate our local library workers who help residents unlock their passions and encourage lifelong learning.”
