SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Lisa Davis, D-Chicago, is making sure that the healthcare, education, public safety and infrastructure that our working families depend on everyday continue to be funded amidst Donald Trump’s attacks on working families.
“Trump’s reckless tariffs, slashing of critical care and attacks on the diversity that makes America great has threatened the livelihoods of working families across the state,” said Davis. “That’s why it was critical that we pass a responsible and compassionate state budget that carefully manages our limited resources to further invest in education, public safety, healthcare and other family priorities.”
The Davis-supported budget cuts over $190 million in state administration bureaucracy in order to better invest in classrooms and essential healthcare services – including safety net hospitals and clinics. It also continues to prioritize youth jobs and violence prevention programs that are instrumental in uplifting communities.
To prepare for further uncertainty caused by Washington, the measure sets aside reserve funds that can be tapped for critical services if needed.
“We were able to thoughtfully secure efficiencies without the same cruelty of Trump and Musk’s reckless actions earlier this year,” said Davis. “This budget reflects our values here at home, and works to build a stronger Illinois. I’m going to continue to fight for a brighter future for every resident.”
