SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Rick Ryan, D-Evergreen Park, continued his efforts to cut the cost-of-living and fight for working families with his support of a measure establishing the Saving Working Families and Easing the Cost-of-Living Task Force.

“Low-income families depend on affordable essentials—such as prescription drugs, mortgage or rent payments, utilities and groceries—to live comfortably,” Ryan said. “I’m committed to keeping our neighborhood a good place to live and part of that commitment is to helping lower prices. It’s time for lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to work together to find new legislative approaches to cut expenses for working families.”

Continuing his work to cut the cost-of-living in his community, Ryan backed House Joint Resolution 40, a measure which establishes the Saving Working Families and Easing Cost-of- Living Task Force. This group will be made up of Democrat and Republican members of the House and Senate and be tasked with looking into a wide-range of fiscally responsible and compassionate solutions to the economic challenges families and individuals have had to overcome.

“Lawmakers have a responsibility to address the problems facing the people we represent, plain and simple,” Ryan said. “I’m confident that, with diligent work, we can craft the legislation that lowers costs so that all Illinoisans can build stronger futures for themselves, their communities and their loved ones.”
