State Rep. Sharon Chung, D-Bloomington, is leading the fight to drive down prices by creating the Saving Working Families and Easing the Cost-of-Living Task Force which is tasked with studying and implementing cost-saving policies to help working families.
“The rising cost of living has hit working families the hardest and prices are only rising due to the chaos and destructive policies coming from the Trump Administration,” said Chung. “That’s why I am creating the Saving Working Families and Easing the Cost-of-Living Task Force; A task force focused on easing the financial burdens working families face due to rising everyday costs.”
Rep. Chung’s House Joint Resolution 40 creates a task force of Democrats and Republicans from the House and Senate that are tasked with studying potential legislation and policies that would drive down prices, saving individuals and families their hard-earned money. Potential policies will focus on lowering grocery, healthcare, prescription, and childcare costs, eliminating taxes on tips and overtime, and closing tax loopholes for companies. This task force will also look into the feasibility of implementing these cost-cutting policies across the state.
“The rising cost of living is costing every person in this state the money they worked hard to earn, forcing many to have to choose between the essentials they need to live,” said Chung. “This task force will not care about what policies are supported by which party but instead will focus on how our state government can work together to help address this worsening crisis and how we can deliver results to Illinoisans across the state rather than empty promises.”
