BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — State Rep. Sharon Chung will attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of the Department of Child and Family Services’ (DCFS) Child Protection Training Academy at Illinois State University tomorrow morning and will speak at the press conference following the ribbon cutting ceremony.
“I am thrilled DCFS is partnering with Illinois State University to improve the workforce and skill development of their employees,” said Chung. “The Child Protection Training Academy will help train our child welfare professionals by offering experiential learning opportunities that will empower employees to better serve the children and families that are serviced by DCFS, benefitting not only children, but our community as a whole.”
The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 10 am followed by a press conference where speakers, including Rep. Chung, will speak on the importance of partnerships and workforce development in the Normal community. The Child Protection Training Academy will be used to train frontline child welfare professionals and will use diverse professional actors, skilled facilitators, and volunteer medical and legal experts to simulate real-life scenarios.
