BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — State Rep. Sharon Chung, D-Bloomington, is encouraging seniors to stay healthy and active and is helping them learn how to avoid falling victim to a scam or crime at the upcoming Safety of Seniors event. The free event will be held at the Alpha Park Public Library, at 4201 Airport Road in Bartonville on Saturday, April 5 from 9 to 11:30 am. The Secretary of State’s Mobile DMV will be in attendance to help seniors renew licenses, register to vote, and more.

“Seniors are one of our most vulnerable populations when it comes to health and are often preyed upon by scammers. This event provides seniors with the opportunity and resources to not only learn how to stay healthy and active, but also learn how to protect themselves from these scammers,” Chung said. “By equipping our seniors with the knowledge and resources they need to stay healthy, active, and safe, we are encouraging them to remain in control of their lives and remain a part of their communities.”

The event is sponsored by the Alpha Park Public Library and the Bartonville Police Department on an annual basis. Individuals will need to schedule an appointment with the DMV at the event by calling (309) 697-3822 x13. Visit alphapark.org or call (309) 697-3822 x25 for more details.
