SPRINGFIELD, IL. – State Rep. Joyce Mason, D- Gurnee, issued the following statement after Gov. J.B. Pritzker gave his annual budget address:

“Every year, I look forward to going line by line through the governor’s proposal because it is a key step of achieving our ultimate goal, uplifting every single Illinois family. My colleagues in Springfield and I believe that the first step in supporting families that need it the most is advocating for and putting pro-family policies in place. We have made so much progress, from making things more affordable for working families, eliminating the grocery tax, cracking down on hidden junk fees, making insurance better and more affordable, and creating the Child Tax Credit, which is going to help our families make ends meet.

“Beyond that, as Chair of the House Childcare Accessibility and Early Childhood Education Committee, I am eager to build upon our monumental steps on childcare and early childhood education because we know that success starts at home. This budget will help us in doing so.”
