Vella Responds to Governor’s Address, Notes Work Ahead to Support Jobs

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Dave Vella, D-Rockford, issued the following statement Wednesday after the governor’s annual budget address:

“This will need to be a fiscally and socially responsible budget that properly invests in our education system, strengthens support for our public safety efforts and works to drive down costs for local families. In light of efforts in Washington to institute tariffs that will harm our region, I’m particularly interested in seeing how we can take further action at the state level to prioritize economic development and job creation.

“This will not be an easy budget year, but I’m optimistic that we can work together to build consensus for a smart spending plan that reflects the concerns and priorities of local families. I look forward to reviewing the governor’s proposal in detail and the work ahead.”
