EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — State Rep. Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, in partnership with a local school district, hosted a successful winter clothing drive throughout December and January, delivering winter clothing for children in need and keeping them safe from the cold.
“I am proud of how our community has come together and am proud to continue honoring my commitment of strengthening public schools in any way I can,” said Stuart. “Through this winter clothing drive, we are supporting school aged children by providing them with warm winter clothes during these frigid months.”
Stuart partnered with the Collinsville Community School District #10 to host the drive over the past month. Donated by members of the community, more than 15 winter coats, eight blankets, and multiple other winter weather items were collected, all of which will be donated to students in need.
“It is moments like these, when the community comes together to help each other, that mean the most,” said Stuart. “I am very proud to do my part in being a voice for the people of my district in Springfield, but supporting students and families begins here, in our community. Helping provide warm clothes for students is just one part of ensuring a child’s success, both in the classroom and outside. I want to thank everyone who participated in our drive, and to the professionals at Collinsville Community School District #10 for being a strong partner in supporting students.”
