SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Camille Y. Lilly, D-Chicago, will remain dedicated to investing in underserved communities, increasing access to affordable healthcare, delivering for working families, and reducing pollution in neighborhoods that have been disproportionately affected by climate change as Assistant Majority Leader during the new legislative session.

“This role in leadership is something that I will not take lightly because it further allows me to give people in our community a seat at the table during important conversations that shape their daily lives,” Lilly said. “It continues to be an absolute honor to play a pivotal role in developing policies that help my community maintain some sense of hope in the face of uncertainty.”

This will be Lilly’s second term as Assistant Majority Leader. She will work closely with House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch to implement House Democrats’ legislative agenda. Her mission remains the same, putting the most vulnerable communities at the forefront of the conversations in Springfield. This includes ensuring that all Illinoisans have access to housing, healthcare, education, food, transportation, and a job so that they can feel confident about their paths ahead.

“I am honored to stand with Speaker Welch to deliver for our entire state,” Lilly said. “During my time representing the 78th District, I have devoted myself to identifying a need in my community and finding ways to fulfill that need through government action. We have made great strides forward, but there is more work to be done so all of Illinois can be uplifted.”
