GRAYSLAKE, Ill. – State Rep. Laura Faver Dias, D-Grayslake, is starting her 2nd term as a Representative in the Illinois House with a crystal-clear focus on addressing the concerns of working families such as rising costs of living, healthcare equity and strengthening our schools.
“As I continue to champion the needs of families in Springfield, I do so with the resolve of a mother, a teacher, and a community builder,” Faver Dias said. “I know that when we listen to and speak up for our communities, we improve people’s lives in measurable ways.”
Faver Dias will continue focusing on working families’ most pressing concerns such as ensuring that they have access to good schools, high-wage jobs and quality healthcare.
During her first term, Faver Dias led efforts to improve access to healthcare by requiring insurance companies to cover the cost of inhalers and hormone therapy for women in menopause. In response to the tragic deaths of student athletes, she fought to protect our young people by requiring all schools to develop cardiac emergency response plans. She also stood up for homeowners’ rights and our natural environment by championing legislation to prevent homeowner associations from prohibiting native plants. Through her support of a fiscally and socially responsible state budget last spring, she also helped to spur economic growth through its funding of apprenticeship programs and other pathways to worthwhile careers. Her support of the budget also helped to allocate an additional $350 million to Illinois’ K-12 schools to improve our education system for our deserving parents, teachers and students.
“Although the state faces great challenges, we also have great communities, people and plans ready to tackle them,” Faver Dias said.. “I am excited to be back in the capital and look forward to working with both sides of the aisle to craft smart and compassionate policy that uplifts working families throughout our state!”
