SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Camille Y. Lilly, D-Chicago, began a new term in the Illinois House, reaffirming her commitment to expanding access to healthcare, advancing green initiatives in communities disproportionately affected by climate change, and improving the wellbeing of residents in underserved neighborhoods.
“Every time I have the opportunity to go to Springfield, I’m determined to create opportunities for all Illinois families to thrive,” said Lilly. “This session, I am focused on securing the resources and support needed to uplift our most vulnerable communities.”
In 2023, Lilly championed House Bill 3955, groundbreaking legislation that prioritizes patient care over administrative processes. The bill prohibits hospitals from delaying necessary medical treatment to inquire about payment or insurance details, ensuring access to critical care regardless of a patient’s socioeconomic status. Lilly is committed to continuing this fight for equitable healthcare access in the year ahead.
“Nothing worthwhile comes without effort, and I am ready to work hard to improve the lives of all Illinoisans,” Lilly said. “I am here because of the people, and I will continue working tirelessly on their behalf.”
