Yang Rohr Returns to Illinois House, Highlights Community Voices

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Janet Yang Rohr, D-Naperville, released the following statement highlighting commonsense approach to Illinois’ challenges in new term in the Illinois House:

“As we start a new General Assembly, Springfield has to focus on the issues everyday Illinoisans are facing: high electricity and housing bills, burdensome childcare and college education and an unstable fiscal outlook. Families are bracing for these upcoming financial challenges; Springfield must do the same.

“I have had the honor and privilege of serving the 41st District in the Illinois House, and listening to and being our community’s voice has bore fruit time and again. Working with students, small businesses, and other constituents throughout the district, we established a climate change curriculum in every high school science classroom, protected students from the dangers of fentanyl, created smart state budgets that save money without sacrificing critical services, and so much more. These legislative and budgetary accomplishments are proof that putting working families’ needs first generates tangible results.

“I am proud of my work partnering with schools to keep them safe and allow them to thrive. We’ve worked together to keep kids safer in the crosswalk with extendable school bus arms, to educate students and staff on allergens, and more. With gun violence continuing to put our children in harm’s way, I will keep working with advocates to establish mobile panic alarms that coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency personnel to better respond to these pressing situations.

“As state representative, I will keep looking to the future. Our future can continue to be bright and open to all if we keep the communities we serve at the forefront of our legislative agenda. I plan to do that in this next General Assembly and everyday as the 41st District’s state representative. Let’s get back to work.”
