SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – As a new General Assembly was inaugurated Wednesday, state Rep. Jay Hoffman, D-Swansea, issued the following statement:
“Working families want the General Assembly to take strong action to support education, curb violence and spark economic development. As I begin a new term, I’m focused on delivering resources to our community that support these goals.
“There are real fiscal challenges on the horizon, which makes it critically important that we take a responsible, balanced path forward that will help create jobs and reflect the essential needs of residents of all ages. In the weeks ahead, I will continue to regularly engage local leaders and residents when it comes to schools, public safety, health care, senior services and other core services to make sure we’re appropriately addressing their challenges. I’m optimistic that we can build consensus together to secure real, positive results for our region.
“It remains an honor to have the privilege to go to Springfield on behalf of this community. Today marks a new beginning with new opportunities, and I’m excited to get to work.”
